Julia DeSantis is an independent filmmaker and photographer currently working in the Philadelphia and NYC areas. She believes these recording mediums offer a unique privilege to both situate imagination in the actual world we recognize and preserve moments that would otherwise dispel with time. In narrative films, photo portraits, and documentaries, Julia strives to unveil the human experience on screen. To achieve this, she prioritizes ensuring those in front of the camera feel comfortable and confident.

Julia has a versatile skill set, having graduated summa cum laude from Boston University with a degree in Film & TV where she took several classes in production, cinematography, and writing, all while working on independent productions in a variety of roles. She has been photographing portraits for 7 years including freelance work and editorial shots for Off the Cuff and Strike Magazine. Whether making a lighting plan, dressing a set, or directing actors, she ensures every detail works in service of the greater story, building an immersive world, which is crucial both for actors and viewers to invest their attention.
