Finished a feature screenplay!

“A woman in her mid 70’s attempts to embrace a future on her own when her high school sweetheart decides to leave her.”

This is a drama, but also a coming of age story despite Flora’s mature age. I am so happy to be able to highlight an older female protagonist, as I find older people but especially older women are so often portrayed as sick, weak, or simply a secondary advise giver or caretaker. Flora’s lines and actions could be said and done by someone half her age if not for the context. I also find that as a woman in my early 20’s I think a lot about growing old and what it will be like, what it will be like getting married… or not. I find Flora’s story in this way to be relatable for a younger audience, and likely comforting, inspiring even.
